Neutrogena Visibly Clear Review

I have been struggling for a while for a good skin care routine that won't break me out without drying my skin out. I have combination to dry skin and regularly have breakouts on my chin and nose. I have tried simple skin care, which I still love, but it wasn't doing as much as I had hopes. Therefore when I was introduced to Neutrogena I decided to give it a go. I tried some products from their visibly clear range and here are my thoughts.

The 'Visibly clear face wash and mask' was very cooling and felt nice on the skin. As a face wash, it didn't dry my skin out or leave it feeling tight like some foaming soapy washes can do. It is very messy though so be prepared to wash out your sink and face cloths afterwards. I did like using this product but I found it worked much better as a mask than a daily wash for my skin. Because it contains salicylic acid it works better to prevent spots or clogged pores when left on the skin for a while as a mask. It is smooth and goes on nicely so you don't need to use a lot in one go, therefore it is more cost effective. I feel like clay masks are good for my skin in general but the other ingredients in this mask help clear my skin and reduce the amount of blackheads I get afterwards.

Next I used the 'Visibly clear blackhead eliminating SOS cleanser'. Now don't let the long title intimidate you, this is basically a suped-up exfoliator. It is quite drying but it definitely works in my experience. The grains aren't too rough but you feel like you're skin is getting a good scrub without it being too harsh, or leaving you with sensitivity. This also contains salicylic acid and benzyl salicylate which help to unclog pores and get rid of blackheads. I really liked this exfoliator and will repurchase! It just worked wonders for keeping breakouts to a minimum whilst helping slough off some dry skin. I would definitely recommend for most skin types except maybe very sensitive and dry skins.

After that I tried out the 'Visibly clear oil free moisturiser' which I am now addicted to. It gave me hydration without clogging my pores or feeling heavy on my skin. It didn't make me oily throughout the day or break me out and although there are many factors which can cause blemishes and spots, I feel like the formulation of this moisturiser is just perfect for my skin at this moment in time. I often get spots that are very dry and can create texture when I put on make-up but this moisturiser really helps to smooth over them without making them worse. A definite recommend to all skin types except from maybe the very very dry and extremely oily.

I also tried out the 'Visibly clear pore & shine daily wash' which claims to mattify and unclog pores. I found it mattified my skin and left me feeling clean and fresh faced without any residue however it was slightly tight and soapy on my skin. The active ingredients really helped tighten my pores and it has a citrus fragrance which helped me wake up in the morning. I would suggest using a more hydrating moisturiser after using this if you have combination skin and I wouldn't recommend this for dry skin types, but I think if you have oily skin it could be a really good gentle daily wash to keep the oil at bay.

Overall, I was very impressed with Neutrogena's products and I found some gems I will keep repurchasing. They do very good products catered for specific skin types so shop around and you'll find the right one for you. If in doubt always try something new, you might be surprised by the results.
