Pent up frustration

Ok so yeah, maybe I was a tad optimistic that I would do a daily blog but I will perceiver. I know I've missed a couple of days but weekly is much more my style. Bridesmaid shopping was ok, tiring and disappointing but not the worst shopping experience I've ever had. Trying on dresses that were way too big for me gave me a small sense of smugness but they were all horrid so that was a downer.
I'm looking forward to the applicant day at Birmingham this week as it will be the first time I actually see the place I will be spending 3 and a bit years of my life.

University is weird isn't it. It almost suspends mostly late teens, early twenties people in a bubble where they feel independent when really they just rely on a student loan and alcohol rather than their parents. I find it hilarious when students think they are mature and grown up when they ask their parents to pay for things or get swayed by what they think is acceptable to their student friends. I have worked throughout most of my teens and I get so infuriated by students who have no idea what the real world is like. You can know humanitarian sciences until you have a degree that confirms it, but do you really know how to communicate, negotiate, work in a team, get a job and keep it. Do they really know how to apply for a tax code or maintain a household. I know some students do maintain their independence and learn to budget and live like an adult but some people really do not understand the privilege they have and think everything is easy and learning is so difficult. I'm about to become a student and the idea thrills and terrifies me in equal measure. I cannot understand it when people are so blatantly ignorant to the real world of consequence and where decisions matter. I'm not saying they shouldn't have fun, I just think that everyone should have a year out of education before uni. However, some people will never learn and will breeze through life with a non plus attitude.

I really need to get some sleep...
